Introducing the Author

There are some stories that just have to be told.

In this, author Pat Dryden’s fifth book Merri Merri – Home of the Twins Arts, one such story is shared.

When the family of Melville and Yvonne Haysom asked Pat to write their story, she was honoured. The life and interests of this latter day Renaissance man and his wife intersect at several points with Pat’s, particularly dedication to Scouting and Guiding and life in the vicinity of Merri Merri. This brings to the narrative a dimension beyond mere facts.

Pat’s journey has been most enjoyable, made more so by the interaction of interesting personnel in art galleries and museums and she has been amazed and pleased by the ready willingness by everyone concerned with whom she has been in contact to help her reach her goal. They also felt it was a story that needed to be told.

Pat has lived in Bielby Road for over sixty years, the home she shared with late husband Jim. The residence remains the meeting place of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many former neighbours and friends.

It is considered that Pat has certainly lived up to the challenge to produce a book to honour the Haysom Family.
